We hope this letter finds you enjoying 2018! Although September seems months away, we are busy planing the sixth Annual In Memory of Me Tanner B Road Race. As we plan for another year we would like to thank our past sponsors, donors, volunteers, and participants. Everyone working together makes Tanner's Run one of Weymouth's finest days!
The In Memory of Me Tanner B Road Race is a 5k run and one mile fun run/walk that honors the memory of Tanner Barbara. Approximately 400 runners and 300 walkers took to the streets of Weymouth to show support for Tanner Barbara, raising more than $49,000 for various charities and programs. The date of the run was scheduled five years after Tanner passed away and was truly a day of remembrance and celebration of his beautiful life.
The proceeds from last year's race were donated to Joanna's Run, Holes for Help, Relay for Life and Pan Mass Challenge. In addition, we dedicated a room at The New England Wildlife Center in memory in Chris Chase, provided a young girl with a prosthetic, purchased flowers for a child's funeral, provided financial relief to the family of a teenage with cancer, man with esophageal cancer, and a widow and two children who lost their husband and father in an automobile accident. We were also able to provide food and toiletry gift cards to local families in need. We would not be able to support these programs without the generous support of all our sponsors.
The response to the last five years' events was so overwhelming. We wanted to make sure the meaning behind this event continued on so that the running community could continue to show its support for the Barbara Family. The Tanner B. Race was established to honor the memory of Tanner J. Barbara, son of John and Becky, brother of Evan and Dylan, friend to all. Tanner was taken from us unexpectedly, at the young age of eight, but he will always live on in the hearts of family and friends who loved him dearly. Whether tumbling in the gym, running for touchdowns on the football field, or just rollerblading with his friends in front of his house, Tanner was happiest when he was on the go.
On Saturday, September 15, 2018, the sixth annual In Memory of Me Tanner B Road Race will be held. The event will start at 9 AM at the Frederick C. Murphy Primary School in Weymouth and includes a 5k road race and one mile fun run/walk. There will be music, children's activities, and lots of great raffles. The proceeds from this year's race will go to various family and children's charities and programs.
Enclosed is an application to sponsor the race which highlights each level of sponsorship. To become a sponsor, please complete the application indicating the level of sponsorship you would like to offer. Donations of any amount will be greatly accepted.
Our tax ID number is 46-1710767. The In Memory of Me Tanner B, Inc. organization is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization status.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
